Do school secretaries have the summer off?
While most of them do not work the entire summer, there usually are some summer hours that are required to close out the year, then get ready for the next school year
Other than summer, do they typically follow their children’s schedule?
Many people apply for and accept positions as school secretaries to work around their children’s school calendar. Typically the office is closed the same days as school is not in session, and the all important snow days are usually the same.
What kind of secretary positions are there?
Usually one thinks of the main office secretary, but in a school and school district there are a variety of secretarial positions that exist:
- Principal’s/School Administrator’s Secretary
- Main Office Secretary
- Receptionist
- Attendance Secretary
- Guidance Secretary
- Registrar
Depending on the size of the school or district, there could also be:
- Transportation Secretary
- Health/Nurse Office Secretary
