Working in education is the most rewarding experience a person can have. Even though I am not in the classroom, I know that my contribution to the education of children is important and valued. Here is how I found the path to my current career:

I started my professional career as a receptionist in mid-town Manhattan in 1989. When I first was trained in word processing, we were using Word Perfect, and the spreadsheet software I learned was Lotus. When I was hired to support the Facilities Manager for the Coca-Cola owned building, I started spending more time with the technology department. At the time, our company hosted one of the first video conference rooms, so our technology department was held in high regard.

After realizing the techs themselves were awesome at support, but needed help in end-user tasks, I partnered with their manager to start end-user training in word processing. I put my trainer skills aside for a good stretch, but am happy to say that for the last decade I have been hands on helping end users with a variety of software and I am in my groove again!

After starting my family, I knew that I no longer wanted to work in the corporate world. I was fortunate enough to get hired at a local private high school as a part-time guidance secretary; the start of my passion of working in schools. After a while, I started working for the principal as his secretary/office manager – where I quickly learned the harsh reality of limited budgets.
